American U Alumnus Refutes Prof's Abortion Misinformation
Fifth, tele-med chemical abortions without proper diagnosis is malpractice. An ultra-sound, STD tests and complete review of a woman’s medical history and conditions will prevent serious injury or death.

To: Adrienne Frank, Editor American University MagazineRe: After the Fall Abortion Article
Dear Adrienne,
A recent article in American Universtiy Magazine, entitled, After the Fall, written by Professor Patty Housman, who quotes sociology professor Dr. Tracy Weitz, is filled with dangerous misinformation that can harm women who are pregnant. First, she claims that child birth is 14 times more likely to result in the death of a woman than abortion, without citing the source of her statement.
The truth is the opposite. Some of the most pro-abortion states do not report abortion injuries and deaths, and some states’ statistics will include deaths from any cause within 12 months of childbirth as related to maternity. Please see the articles below that show the problems with this statement.

For most women, having a baby is a healthy experience. A recent study of elite female marathoners revealed that many of them ran faster AFTER they had their first child.

Pregnant women reading Professor Housman’s article may experience fear and will be more likely to seek out an abortion and have their babies killed, taking unnecessary risks with their own health besides the horrific and painful death of their babies.
Second, late term abortions are particularly dangerous. In most cases premature delivery is far safer than performing an abortion.

Third, all states who have past laws restricting abortion have exceptions for the life of the mother. This includes ectopic pregnancy and miscarriages after the baby has died. Creating fear in women with difficult pregnancies is dangerous.
Fourth, the Turnaway Study was funded by the abortion industry, and Planned Parenthood selected the participants.

Fifth, tele-med chemical abortions without proper diagnosis is malpractice. An ultra-sound, STD tests and complete review of a woman’s medical history and conditions will prevent serious injury or death. Encouraging women to have a 15-minute consultation and then get the pills in the mail is not good healthcare and has numerous and serious risks.

It is important to know that the abortion industry makes its money by performing abortions. Planned Parenthood revenue was $1.7 billion in 2020-21.
In contrast, when volunteer pro-life advocates counsel a woman about her pregnancy and she goes forward to have her baby and the joy of being a mom and gets support from a non-profit local pregnancy resource center, we do not make money. We get something worth much more: to see the wonderful joy that a woman and her family experience.
I would be interested in writing an article for the magazine correcting the errors in Professor Housman’s article.
